The most useful question before building is not “what should it do?” but “what has to remain true when this scales?”
A feature is a local answer. A system is an answer that keeps working when more people, more data, and more uncertainty arrive.
When I start a product, I look for the invariants: trust boundaries, failure modes, decisions that cannot be reversed cheaply, and the signals an operator needs when things get strange.
That mindset changes the work. The interface becomes an instrument, not decoration. Security becomes a design constraint, not a final checklist.
